Welcome and Course Outline to June 2019


Physics 11 until June 2019

Welcome to Physics 11!

The prerequisite for this course is Pre-calculus Math 11.

You will rent the following text: Merrill Physics (Red book)
Your teacher will give you a “Self-Paced Card”

For every chapter: 
1.    Read the chapters
2.    View the videos.
3.    Do the Practice Problems (answers at the back of the text);
4.    Do the Chapter Review (ask a teacher for the answer key)
5.    When ready, ask for the Chapter Test

** If you want more review, ask your teacher for the extra Chapter Review
**You may use a formula sheet (attached) and a calculator)

6.    This course consists of 15 chapters with 14 chapter tests. Each test is worth 7.14%.

Please do the following:

Chapters 1 to 5                   Mechanics 1

Chapters 9 to12                  Mechanics 2 and Thermal Energy

Chapters 14 and 16-18     Waves and Light (Omit Chapter 15)

Special Relativity:  Ask your teacher for a different textbook: Conceptual Physics and do Chapter 15 and 16 (pages 204-236)
Ask for the practice worksheets
